About the position

Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate and engineer solutions around database technology.
  • Translate customers' needs and use cases into technical innovation and robust engineering solutions on both on-prem and cloud infrastructure.
  • Engage in the ongoing database engineering process, partnering with development groups.
  • Provide deep subject matter expertise to feature design.
  • On-call for production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer and dev support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems or related field.
  • Typically Minimum 6 Years Relevant Experience with the Installation, Customization, Testing and Maintenance of database systems within a production environment.
  • Deep knowledge and experience designing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle, DynamoDB, Redis, and SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with database replication technologies for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with AWS Services (EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, DMS etc.).
  • Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems.
  • Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialization, recovery paths).
  • Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability and scalability.
  • Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the storage.
  • Proficiency in Python and Groovy for automation and scripting.
  • Coding skills in the procedural language for at least one database engine (PL/SQL, T-SQL etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience engineering, administering and managing multiple relational database flavors (e.g. Oracle, SQLServer, PostgreSQL).
  • Exposure to cloud environments and architectures.
  • Experienced in various Clustering and Sharding architectures.
  • Experience with data ingestion techniques and pipelines to process the importing, transferring, loading, and processing data for later use or storage in a database.
  • Experience with CDC and/or Striim data ingestion for real-time updates, log-based mechanism, streaming, or any other related technique would be a plus.
  • Experience with DBT scripts is a must.
  • Snowflake experience or knowledge is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • BE in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems or related field.
  • 8+ years professional Experience In DB schema designing, developing DB scripts.
  • Strong understanding of the DB transaction internals.
  • Strong understanding of SQL and query performance tuning.
