About the position

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to advance healthcare outcomes through innovative data solutions. This role involves designing and implementing efficient data architectures using Azure cloud services and requires strong proficiency in Python and T-SQL. The ideal candidate will also mentor others, engage in continuous service improvement, and ensure high customer satisfaction while executing projects and maintaining documentation for enterprise data management systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data solutions using Azure cloud services, including Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
• Mentor junior staff and lead efforts in data engineering best practices.
• Engage proactively in resolving customer incidents and requests within specified timelines.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for enterprise data management systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize data solutions that support enterprise-wide analytics.
• Identify and implement enhancements to IT services aligned with business processes.
• Develop and execute data processing pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5 years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
• Proficiency in Python and T-SQL.
• Experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.
• Strong understanding of data architecture and data lakehouse architecture.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Data Engineering, Data Science, or related fields with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud).
• Certifications in Azure or related technologies.
• Experience with EPIC Cogito development.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as HIPAA.
