About the position

The Data Engineer / Business Intelligence Developer at Emergent Holdings plays a crucial role in supporting the Business Intelligence team by developing user-friendly Tableau reporting solutions. This position requires strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of business context to engineer reliable data and analytics solutions. The role involves designing, building, and deploying business intelligence solutions to enhance decision-making processes within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design data and reporting solutions
  • Build and operationalize highly trusted and utilized data solutions
  • Design and develop SQL code, including scripts and data pipelines from multiple sources
  • Develop product deliverable documentation
  • Collaborate with agile team members to meet deadlines
  • Elicit business requirements, perform gap analysis, and develop report designs
  • Build interactive Tableau dashboard reports
  • Communicate project status and results
  • Recommend and develop reporting best practices, policies, and procedures
  • Analyze data and architecture for issues and improvements
  • Own the process and the results

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent training
  • Two (2)+ years experience designing, creating, and developing Tableau dashboards
  • Two (2)+ years of data engineering or equivalent experience
  • Advanced knowledge of BI/Dashboard tools such as Tableau
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare data, preferably from a healthcare payer perspective
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong working knowledge of Big Data platforms such as Hadoop and Databricks
  • Strong working knowledge of Cloud Data Platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database systems (Oracle or SQL)
  • Intermediate working knowledge of ETL tools and processes
  • Intermediate relationship building and execution excellence
  • Intermediate problem-solving skills
  • Basic familiarity with DevOps fundamentals
  • Basic familiarity with advanced statistical concepts
  • Willingness to work with unclear and poorly defined data

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification or progress toward certification in relevant fields
  • Experience working with data in a Health Care / Insurance environment
