About the position

Splunk is seeking a passionate Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Applications Transformation Office. In this role, you will leverage your analytical and engineering skills to support our growing Go-To-Market (GTM) Business. You will be responsible for designing and developing analytics solutions using tools such as dbt, Snowflake, and Python. Your work will involve coordinating production analytics deployments with the Analytics Data Platform Team and ensuring the delivery of downstream dashboards with the Tableau engineering team. You will also develop a deep understanding of our data and benchmarking processes, which will enable you to identify opportunities for improvement in systems, processes, and data management. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in integrating data, processes, and metrics requirements into broader corporate initiatives. You will work cross-functionally with various teams, including IT, Finance, Sales, and Customer Experience, to drive operational excellence and performance insights across the organization. Your ability to blend immediate tactical data needs with long-term scalable strategies will be essential in positively impacting Splunk's bottom line. You will also lead documentation efforts to create a single source of truth for GTM metrics across the company, ensuring that accurate and timely information is available to stakeholders. This position requires a keen business insight and the ability to prioritize work based on the insights it can deliver. You will be a partner to the business, understanding and addressing their needs while driving Splunk's Cloud/Term renewal strategy. Your contributions will help support target setting, coverage modeling, capacity planning, and forecasting in collaboration with various teams, including Customer Success Managers, Renewals, Sales, and Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop go to market analytics using dbt, Snowflake, and Python.
  • Coordinate production analytics deployments with the Analytics Data Platform Team and downstream dashboard delivery with the Tableau engineering team.
  • Develop a deep hands-on understanding of our data and benchmarking.
  • Understand the broader data management strategy and landscape at Splunk to ensure alignment with current and future development.
  • Find practical ways to bring together data and insights to monitor and diagnose business performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and data, eliminating gaps in performance insight.
  • Lead documentation efforts to provide a single source of truth for GTM metrics across the company.
  • Blend immediate tactical data needs with longer-term scalable strategies for operational and analytical needs.
  • Work cross-functionally with adjacent operations and analytics teams to integrate data, process, and metrics requirements into corporate initiatives.
  • Drive Splunk's Cloud/Term renewal strategy, supporting target setting, coverage modeling, capacity planning, and forecasting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; a bonus if in a numerate subject area (Mathematics, Computer Science, Stats).
  • 5+ years of practical, hands-on knowledge of data management and analytics solutions including Snowflake, DBT, SQL, and Python.
  • Experience working with Gitlab or an equivalent version control system.
  • Deep understanding of data engineering, architecture, and systems to identify the best tools and practices.
  • Highly organized and experienced using JIRA to maintain work visibility.
  • Proven grasp of SaaS and/or Enterprise Sales business model with understanding of customer life span measures and revenue streams.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Sales Infrastructure, such as Salesforce.com, and concepts like contracts, entitlements, subscriptions, and opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening and composing clear correspondence and reports.
  • Possess keen business insight with the ability to handle and supervise data for complex processes.
  • Impressive analytical skills to summarize and present multiplex principles.
