About the position
The Data Engineer position at Liberty IT Solutions involves supporting the development and maintenance of scalable data stores for business analysis, particularly for government agencies. The Data Engineer will lead engineering efforts to create a centralized database system in GovCloud, enabling various stakeholders to utilize diverse datasets effectively. This position is remote and offers opportunities for skill development in database design, cloud technologies, and ETL strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable data stores for business analysis.
- Design and implement a centralized database system for government use.
- Monitor and tune databases for high performance and efficiency.
- Create and modify ETL tools to load data from multiple sources into cloud-based data warehouses or data lakes.
- Develop documentation, including standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data requirements and prioritize needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of directly related experience or Master's degree and 3+ years of directly related experience.
- 4+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server database architectures and schemas.
- 4+ years of experience monitoring and tuning databases for performance.
- 4+ years of experience in SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and views.
- 2+ years of experience creating and modifying ETL tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with EDI mapping tools such as BizTalk, WebMethods, Axway, or Edifecs.
- Experience with data modeling tools like Informatica, Talend, Apache Airflow, and Hevo.
- Experience with Snowflake Data Cloud, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with backend application development and REST API services.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Splunk.
- Experience with cloud service providers like AWS and Azure.
- Experience with Agile engineering practices.
- Knowledge of EDI file types: X12, XML, JSON, NCPDP, and flat files.
- Knowledge of health claims processing.
