About The Position
Maxar is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Data Engineer or Senior Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Intelligence team. This role is pivotal in our mission to deliver high-quality analytics solutions. The position is hybrid, requiring several days a week on-site collaboration with colleagues in Westminster, CO or Longmont, CO. The Data Intelligence team is responsible for maintaining a variety of infrastructure, services, and analytics deliverables. Recently, we have developed and deployed a new full-stack data lake house environment designed to empower more Maxar teams to build analytics solutions. Your primary focus will be to learn our existing solutions, assist in migrating them to the data lake house, and leverage your skills to develop data-pipeline best practices while aiding other departments in onboarding their data to this new environment. This is a time of rapid change for the Data Intelligence team, making flexibility and adaptability essential for success in this role. In your day-to-day activities, you will operate in a cloud-based AWS environment, collaborating with both Maxar employees and external consultants. You will gain exposure to one of the world's foremost repositories of geospatial data. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and supporting scalable, reliable cloud data solutions using open-source and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) tooling. You will develop high-quality, resilient data pipelines and business solutions, analyze and interpret data from diverse systems for reporting applications, and actively identify opportunities to improve our infrastructure while proposing solutions to realize them. Collaboration with a skilled team of DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, and Business Intelligence Developers will be a key aspect of your role.
