About the position

The Data Engineer role at Inmar involves designing and implementing data flows to connect operational systems and capture data for analytics and business intelligence. The position requires a strong understanding of data security, data modeling, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The Data Engineer will lead the development of data streaming systems, optimize code for performance, and manage database operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data flows to connect operational systems.
  • Lead the building of data streaming systems.
  • Optimize code to ensure processes perform optimally.
  • Manage routine work on database management.
  • Understand and apply information security controls to mitigate threats.
  • Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Conduct data profiling and source system analysis.
  • Participate in the design, building, and testing of data products.
  • Select and implement technologies for scalable data solutions.
  • Produce relevant data models across multiple subject areas.
  • Design and present changes to metadata repositories.
  • Investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems.
  • Design, code, test, and document complex programs and scripts.
  • Review requirements and define test conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in data engineering or similar role.
  • Experience building and optimizing big data pipeline architectures.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented scripting languages such as Scala or Python.
  • Experience with public cloud technologies (Google preferred, AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, Postgres, Cassandra).
  • Working knowledge of message queuing and stream processing.
  • Experience with financial/ERP systems like Oracle Cloud ERP.
  • Experience with big data applications such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on data and processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development processes.
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Airflow.
