About the position

The Data Engineer position involves developing and managing ETL processes, troubleshooting data issues, and supporting database and dashboard development. The role requires a strong understanding of database management and performance tuning, along with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a hybrid contract position lasting six months, requiring on-site presence two days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-level ETL mapping specifications.
  • Develop complex code data scripts primarily using SQL for ETL processes.
  • Troubleshoot and determine the best resolution for data issues and anomalies.
  • Manage exploratory data analysis to support database and dashboard development, as well as advanced analytics efforts.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Determine changes in physical database by studying project requirements and identifying database characteristics.
  • Change database system by coding database descriptions.
  • Protect database by developing access systems and specifying user levels of access.
  • Maintain user reference by writing and rewriting database descriptions.

Requirements

  • Typically has 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field such as information systems, mathematics, or computer science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced SQL skills, adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
  • Expertise in Data Analysis, Data Profiling, and SQL Tuning.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to clearly communicate capabilities, opportunities, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in managing product delivery is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
  • At least 3 years in an architectural or design capacity for large scale enterprise systems.
