About the position

The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic design and maintenance of the business intelligence infrastructure. This position focuses on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of data storage, reporting, and analysis processes, transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive informed decision-making. The role requires expertise in Microsoft BI tools, SQL, Azure, and data governance, with a strong emphasis on ensuring data integrity and developing ETL processes to meet the evolving needs of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic design, implementation, and maintenance of business intelligence infrastructure.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend improvements for data storage and reporting processes.
  • Develop, write, and optimize ETL processes, reports, and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform data into actionable insights.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities to enhance data availability and improve business intelligence processes.
  • Conduct data audits, uncover integrity issues, and work with business managers to resolve them.
  • Translate user requirements into technical and functional specifications for data solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance processes and best practices.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively, while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all processes, tools, and systems.
  • Communicate complex data concepts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence or data analysis roles, with a strong focus on Microsoft Business Intelligence tools (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server 2019, with a deep understanding of SQL for ad-hoc reporting, data mining, and database optimization.
  • Expertise in Microsoft PowerBI for creating insightful and interactive data visualizations.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure platform, particularly DataBricks and DataFactory, for managing large-scale datasets.
  • Strong programming skills in PySpark and Python for developing and maintaining efficient ETL processes.
  • BA/BS degree in software development, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to work with large datasets, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data modeling and best practices in Data Warehouse development.
  • Expertise in developing and modifying ETL processes, including utilizing API calls for data extraction and integration.
  • Familiarity with data governance processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent documentation skills for processes, systems, and tools.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
