About the position

The Data Engineer at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital plays a crucial role in developing data solutions for advanced analytics and operational support. This position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining data objects and models, while collaborating with data architects to enhance the organization's analytical capabilities. The Data Engineer is responsible for integrating data from various sources into the enterprise data warehouse and promoting self-service dashboard solutions to meet reporting needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Enterprise Business Intelligence Platform as the primary steward of the EDW presentation layer.
  • Participate in data modeling and data source creation to support technology for data analysts.
  • Engage in optimization efforts for both the back-end and front-end of the BI platform.
  • Enforce BI platform governance, administer platform technology, and maintain user permissions and security.
  • Participate in BI product evaluations, RFPs, POCs, and business decisions to ensure fit and scale into the platform.
  • Understand business objectives and provide timely solutions focusing on data integrity and quality.
  • Assist Data Architects with ETL and warehouse development as needed.
  • Perform other duties in support of departmental and corporate objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, software development, information systems, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience providing data solutions, analytics, or data development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to express complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and stay current on technology trends.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and be self-motivated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL programming (T-SQL preferred).
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and database design skills.
  • Experience with modern Business Intelligence stacks (MS SQL Server preferred).
  • Familiarity with data visualization technologies (Tableau preferred).
