About the position

TerraPower is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer to support enterprise data management, business reporting, and AI data modeling. The role involves defining and implementing data pipelines, understanding business needs, and maintaining accurate documentation to enhance the organization's data capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and document the business relevance and ownership of data sources
• Build tools to give visibility into data to support business processes
• Support the development, delivery, and training of BI dashboards and reporting tools
• Work directly with business partners to discuss reporting needs and build requirements

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering with expertise in distributed computing technologies, ETL, and query performance optimization
• SQL proficiency and mastery of at least one general-purpose programming language
• Passion for building and improving data pipelines that are performant and easy to maintain
• Proficiency in various data modeling techniques such as ER, Hierarchical, Dimensional, or NoSQL modeling
• Experience working in a cloud infrastructure environment and using various data warehouse and big data systems
• 3+ years experience with orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, AWS Step function, Airflow, Control-m
• Some exposure/experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight, QlickView, IBM Cognos analytics or Business Objects
• Experience owning problems end-to-end and a willingness to learn whatever is necessary to get the job done
• Ability to work in an environment with loosely defined requirements and competing priorities

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Azure Data Factory/Synapse preferred
• Experience with Power BI preferred
