As a Data Engineer at College Board, you will play a crucial role in supporting the digital assessment lifecycle, from registration to score reporting. You will be part of the Interflow team, which consists of 12 highly collaborative and motivated technologists. This team is responsible for implementing core services that are leveraged by other teams at College Board. Your primary focus will be on understanding business use cases, extracting data using SQL, and building reports that enhance the digital test administration experience for students worldwide. The work you do will directly impact the quality of assessments delivered to millions of students, ensuring they have a smooth testing experience and that the organization can continuously improve its offerings. In this role, you will spend approximately 80% of your time extracting, analyzing, and reporting data. You will develop complex SQL scripts to extract data from various sources such as Athena, Timestream, and Redshift. You will also be responsible for tracing, analyzing, and remediating data issues, applying business logic to retrieve or modify data sets, and designing comprehensive reports on operational data. Additionally, you will automate data extraction processes using Python and visualize the results using tools like Tableau or QuickSight. You will follow best practices in coding, version control, and testing while exploring new AI and data engineering tools available in the market. The remaining 20% of your time will be dedicated to supporting peak test days, troubleshooting application access issues, and communicating effectively with both business and technical teams. You will also document requirements, data mappings, and database specifications to ensure accuracy and quality in the information analysis process.
