About the position

Northern Rock is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in evolving and enhancing our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be experienced in building and optimizing data pipelines and passionate about creating data systems from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
  • Implement new API integrations to accommodate growing data volumes and complexities.
  • Work closely with analytics and business teams to refine data models that power business intelligence tools.
  • Build and manage the infrastructure necessary for efficient extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources.
  • Provide technical support and lead discussions with end users to ensure optimal use of data resources.
  • Operate independently while managing the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
  • Diagnose and resolve data issues, performing thorough root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
  • Apply core data management practices, including data governance, security, and quality assurance, to all aspects of the data architecture.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Solid programming experience, particularly in API and ETL development using Python.
  • Experience with Snowflake, including data warehousing and analytics.
  • Familiarity with DBT (Data Build Tool) for data transformation and modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical projects and data modeling techniques.
  • Working knowledge of AWS technologies and services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Tableau for data visualization.
  • Familiarity with practices like Continuous Development, Continuous Integration, and Automated Testing.
