About the position

As an Advanced Data Engineer at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, you will play a crucial role in driving the organization's digital transformation. This position involves developing ETL processes, collaborating with analysts to deliver high-quality data solutions, maintaining data models, implementing data governance practices, and evaluating new data technologies. The role is integral to ensuring the safety and reliability of naval nuclear reactors and supporting the training of U.S. Navy personnel.

Responsibilities

• Developing ETL processes and pipelines
• Collaborating with analysts and designers to deliver high-quality data solutions
• Developing and maintaining data models
• Implementing data governance practices
• Assisting in the evaluation and integration of new data technologies and tools

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience
• Master's degree in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience
• Currently or previously NPE qualified
• CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program
• Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Strong experience with ETL tools and frameworks
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and processing
• Knowledge of big data technology (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
