About the position

i360 is seeking a Data Engineer to join the team! In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for extracting, manipulating, and analyzing data from various databases. Your primary focus will be on maintaining existing data processes while also identifying opportunities for improvement. You will write efficient queries to extract and analyze data, assist with custom data requests, and ensure the quality of large datasets using Python. Additionally, you will create and maintain technical specification documentation, review existing database scripts, and implement optimized queries to enhance data processing efficiency. As a Data Engineer, you will work closely with other team members to ensure that data is accurate, accessible, and actionable. You will be expected to have a strong understanding of relational database concepts and be proficient in at least one programming language. Your role will also involve evaluating existing procedures and making recommendations for improvements, ensuring that the data infrastructure supports the needs of the organization effectively. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the data-driven decision-making processes at i360, helping to shape the future of data analytics within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Write efficient queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from databases
  • Assist with the delivery of custom data requests (e.g., fuzzy match, appends)
  • Build and run quality control on large datasets using Python
  • Create and maintain technical specification documentation
  • Review existing database scripts, identify outdated logic, implement optimized queries, and thoroughly evaluate each procedure

Requirements

  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, Java, C# etc.)
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Products

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python
  • Basic understanding of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for managing data storage and computing resources
  • Familiarity with data warehouse design and the use of tools like Amazon Redshift, Snowflake
  • Experience working with political or commercial data
