About the position

Peloton is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Data Science team, responsible for scaling the company's data infrastructure to meet business needs. This role involves building batch and streaming data pipelines that process large volumes of data daily, collaborating with various teams to support analytics and reporting across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data pipelines to support analytics needs across multiple business verticals.
  • Understand end-to-end data interactions and dependencies across complex data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop best practices for the next generation data platform.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience or academic training in data engineering, data science, or software development.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language, preferably Python or Java.
  • Working knowledge of developing ETL/ELT pipelines and transforming data to meet business goals.
  • Knowledge of big data architectures and tools for processing large volumes of data.
  • Familiarity with REST for accessing cloud-based services.
  • Knowledge of databases or data warehouses, such as PostgreSQL or Redshift.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of SQL for reporting and transformation needs.
  • Comfortable with Linux operating system and command line tools such as Bash.
  • Excellent communication, adaptability, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous work experience in data engineering or data science teams.
  • Experience working in a cloud-based ecosystem, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with Apache Hadoop, Hive, Spark, or PySpark.
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with data integration tools such as Airbyte.
  • Experience running Agile methodology and applying SCRUM to data engineering.
  • Experience with GIT and Github.
