About the position

Sunflower Bank is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Data Engineer. This full-time position is a hybrid/remote opportunity, but candidates must reside in Kansas, Texas, Missouri, New Mexico, Michigan, or Arizona. The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining data pipelines that enable the Bank to leverage data as a valuable asset. This position involves creating data models, managing metadata, and serving as an expert in data reporting and analytics. The Data Engineer will be responsible for assembling large and complex sets of data to meet functional business requirements. This includes identifying, designing, and implementing data pipelines using both on-premise and cloud ETL/ELT tools and data platforms. The role also entails implementing, maintaining, and managing the Bank's on-premise and cloud data platforms. Additionally, the Data Engineer will build the necessary infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources across the Bank. Another key responsibility is to develop analytical tools that utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insights into key business performance metrics, including operational efficiency and customer retention/acquisition. The Data Engineer will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver data-related solutions that empower the Bank to utilize data effectively. Furthermore, the role requires devising, developing, and deploying data queries in response to business user needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to enable the Bank to use data as an asset.
  • Assemble large, complex sets of data to meet functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement data pipelines using on-premise and cloud ETL/ELT tools and data platforms.
  • Implement, maintain, and manage the Bank's on-premise and cloud data platforms.
  • Build infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources.
  • Build analytical tools to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics.
  • Work with stakeholders to deliver data-related solutions that empower the Bank.
  • Devise, develop, and deploy data queries in response to business user needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 5+ years of IT experience.
  • Strong understanding of on-premise and cloud ETL/ELT methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Experience with data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Direct experience with data management techniques.
  • Proven experience implementing and managing on-premise Microsoft SQL Server and Snowflake.
  • Proven experience with reporting and analytics platforms like Power BI and Tableau.
