About the position

As an Architect/Facilities Project Manager for the CIA, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored facilities products and services to internal Agency customers. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire project lifecycle, from conception through to occupancy. This includes the preparation of construction documents and furniture selection, ensuring that the work environments you create are safe, secure, and functional, all in support of the Agency's global intelligence mission. In this entry-level position, you will work under close guidance and supervision, managing and coordinating well-defined facilities projects. Your tasks will involve project planning, developing Statements of Work and estimates, implementing projects, and monitoring costs, schedules, and performance. You will also manage customer expectations, identify potential risks, and perform quality assurance. Additionally, you will be expected to handle general administrative duties, maintain current project management knowledge, and pursue relevant certifications. Architects/Facilities Project Managers are responsible for overseeing one or more project management activities throughout the project lifecycle. Depending on your assignment, you may lead team members and contractors, travel domestically or internationally, and engage in sensitive, high-visibility activities to meet project objectives and customer requirements. You may also assist in managing building support services and property management issues for small to medium-sized Agency facilities, as well as participate in procurement activities in coordination with the assigned contracting officer. This position requires a commitment to serve where mission needs are located, with an ongoing readiness to travel and relocate to meet both short and long-term organizational requirements. A commitment to traveling overseas, including to hardship locations, is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored facilities products and services for internal Agency customers.
  • Take projects from conception through to occupancy, including preparation of construction documents and furniture selection.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of well-defined facilities projects under close guidance and supervision.
  • Participate in project planning, developing Statements of Work and estimates, and project implementation.
  • Monitor costs, schedules, and performance of projects.
  • Manage customer expectations and identify potential risks.
  • Perform quality assurance and general administrative duties.
  • Maintain current project management knowledge and obtain appropriate certifications.
  • Lead team members and contractors based on assignment.
  • Travel domestically or overseas as required to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Engineering, or a related field with a focus on facilities management.
  • At least one year of experience in facilities project planning, resource scheduling, cost monitoring, task assignment, and timeline management.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytic skills and project management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements.
  • Working knowledge of information technology, mechanical, electrical, or communication systems.
  • Ability to meet CIA's minimum requirements, including U.S. citizenship and a background investigation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Professional Engineer's (PE) License.
