About the position

The Data Engineering and Analytics Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the management and oversight of the UJA-Federation's investment assets. This position involves maintaining the data infrastructure, developing analytical tools, and facilitating data-driven decision-making within a small, flat investment organization. The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about data engineering and visualization, providing exposure to the endowment's decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the data infrastructure for the Investment Office (IO).
  • Understand the nature of all data sources and uses for the IO and maintain infrastructure, including a SQL database.
  • Build process tools for the operations of the investment office, expanding the use of JIRA Project Management software.
  • Craft custom data analytics tools in Tableau and Excel for informed investment decisions.
  • Continuously improve analytics tools based on feedback from the IO.
  • Aid other departments in automation of reporting using Streamlit and Python scripts.
  • Create dashboards to visualize macro-economic and fundamental data for asset allocation decisions.
  • Work on ad-hoc investment-related projects as directed by the Director of Investments or CIO.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree, preferably in business analytics, finance, data science, or engineering.
  • At least five years of experience managing data for an organization, preferably a financial firm.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and Python; working knowledge of SQL.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and data visualization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with JIRA Project Management software.
  • Familiarity with data and risk management methodologies.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $150,000 to $200,000 plus bonus potential, commensurate with experience.
