About the position

The Data Engineering Domain Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology roadmap that outlines both current and future technical architectures for the Domain. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of architectural frameworks, methods, design patterns, and tools relevant to the Domain. As the end-to-end subject matter expert, the Domain Architect will lead strategic technological planning, ensuring that architecture solutions align with business needs. A critical aspect of this role involves analyzing industry trends and maintaining awareness of developments, regulations, and standards that may impact the Domain. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with modern data architectures and platforms, including Snowflake, Informatica IICS, AWS Cloud Native services, and data governance tools. Daily responsibilities will include developing and enhancing data products and advanced analytics, collaborating with business domain leads and key vendor partners, and providing technical recommendations to achieve business objectives. The Domain Architect will also establish reusable building blocks for project teams, lead feasibility studies, and identify opportunities for optimizing redundant solutions or manual processes. In addition, the Domain Architect will oversee the creation of effective Proof-of-Concept demonstrations, participate in vendor/product selection activities, and ensure that all technology projects adhere to established governance structures and architectural standards. This role requires strong relationship-building skills with business domain leadership to understand evolving business needs and priorities, as well as the ability to provide technical and business consulting to internal technology organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance data products and advanced analytics.
  • Partner with the Business Domain Lead, Portfolio lead, and key vendor partners regarding strategy, priorities, program risks, and issue mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical recommendations and solutions to achieve business objectives.
  • Establish reusable building blocks and guardrails for project teams.
  • Collaborate with solution, platform, and enterprise architects on domain needs.
  • Lead feasibility studies and POCs for new business solutions.
  • Identify redundant solutions or manual processes that can be optimized.
  • Design and oversee efforts in building effective bank-specific Proof-of-Concept demonstrations and socialize the results throughout the Domain and all levels of management.
  • Participate in vendor/product selection activities including the development of vendor/product evaluation models used in Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Own the domain technology roadmap.
  • Create conceptual designs and estimates for solutions.
  • Create reusable patterns from the domain.
  • Make technical decisions at a program level.
  • Remediate program technical risks.
  • Complete required processes for portfolio investment charters, architecture review boards, and architecture governance on detailed technical designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a technology-related field, or equivalent through a combination of education and/or technology experience, or 12 years of technology experience.
  • 8 years of architecture experience.
  • 8 years of experience leading large, complex/critical technology projects.
  • 8 years of experience influencing strategy for large organizations.
  • 6 years of experience leading and mentoring others.
