About the position

The Data Engineering Manager is a senior management role responsible for leading multiple teams within the Applications Development Group, focusing on the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs. This position plays a critical role in the Risk and Finance group, overseeing data management strategies that support various risk and finance functions. The manager will drive a convergence strategy to consolidate fragmented data instances into a strategic set of data points, ensuring high data quality and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
• Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management, and planning while monitoring end results.
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures to resolve issues and ensure essential procedures are followed.
• Integrate knowledge of applications development with overall technology functions to achieve established goals.
• Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations.
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties as necessary.
• Assess risk when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and creating accountability for maintaining standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in applications development
• Experience in management
• Experience managing global technology teams
• Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Advanced level knowledge of Java
• Advanced level experience with HTTP, ReSTful web services and API design
• Programming skills including concurrent, parallel and distributed systems programming
• Experience with Bigdata technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Python, and PySpark
• Experience with Reactive Streams

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Hadoop SQL interfaces like Hive, Spark SQL, etc.
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Good understanding of the Linux OS
• Experience with Gradle, Maven
