About the position

The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management role responsible for leading a team to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs within the Risk and Finance group. This position plays a critical role in managing data applications that support various risk and finance functions, ensuring data quality and standards while driving a convergence strategy to consolidate fragmented data instances.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
• Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management, and planning while monitoring end results.
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within the area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.
• Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with the overall technology function to achieve established goals.
• Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations, drawing from internal and external sources.
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties as necessary.
• Assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in applications development
• Experience in management
• Experience managing global technology teams
• Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Hadoop SQL interfaces like Hive, Spark SQL, etc.
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Good understanding of the Linux OS
• Experience with Gradle, Maven would be beneficial
• Experience in Data science, model building, and scaled model operations is a plus
