About the position

The Data Engineering Manager at Meta Platforms, Inc. is responsible for driving the vision for Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing across a product vertical. This role involves defining and executing plans to achieve operational excellence, building a high-quality BI and Data Warehousing team, and managing cross-functional relationships to understand and deliver on data needs. The manager will oversee the design, building, and launching of new data models and pipelines, ensuring data quality and managing the delivery of impactful dashboards and visualizations.

Responsibilities

• Proactively drive the vision for Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing across a product vertical.
• Define and execute on a plan to achieve operational excellence in project management and system reliability.
• Build a high-quality BI and Data Warehousing team and design the team to scale.
• Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to understand data needs.
• Manage data warehouse plans across a product vertical.
• Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
• Manage development of data resources and support new product launches.
• Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.
• Manage the delivery of high-impact dashboards and data visualizations.
• Define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Analytics, Physics, or related field.
• Two years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
• Development in SQL and at least one of the following object-oriented languages: Python, Perl, or Java.
• Recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management.
• Architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services.
• Management experience with technical teams, or experience as a technical lead or project manager.
• Building data products including front end visualization technologies interfacing with backend systems.
• Leading data-driven discussions & designing scalable data platforms for analytics.
• Analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies.
• Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure.
• Applied statistics, including experimentation and regression modeling.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in large-scale systems.
• Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams.
• Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions.
• Leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth.
