About the position

The Data Engineering Manager at Meta is responsible for driving the vision for Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing across a product vertical. This role involves defining processes for operational excellence, building a high-quality team, and managing data warehouse plans. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs, ensure data quality, and deliver impactful dashboards and visualizations.

Responsibilities

• Proactively drive the vision for Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing across a product vertical.
• Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability.
• Build a high quality BI and Data Warehousing team and design the team to scale.
• Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
• Manage data warehouse plans across a product vertical.
• Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
• Manage development of data resources and support new product launches.
• Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas.
• Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations.
• Define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Analytics, Physics, or related field.
• Two years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
• Development in SQL and at least one of the following object-oriented languages: Python, Perl, or Java.
• Recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management.
• Architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services.
• Management experience with technical teams, or experience as a technical lead or project manager.
• Building data products including front end visualization technologies interfacing with backend systems.
• Leading data driven discussions & designing scalable data platforms for analytics.
• Analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps and inconsistencies.
• Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure.
• Applied statistics, including experimentation and regression modeling.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in large-scale systems.
• Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams.
• Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions.
• Leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth.
