About the position

The Data Engineering Manager at PepsiCo is responsible for overseeing the development and operations of data products, driving a vision for how data engineering can positively impact the business. This role involves leading a team of data engineers to build data pipelines, manage data lakes, and enable analytics and machine learning efforts across the organization. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality data access and support business innovation through effective data management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management to a team of data engineers, overseeing their work processes and mentoring them.
  • Act as a subject matter expert across different digital projects.
  • Manage and scale data pipelines from internal and external sources to support new product launches.
  • Build and own automation and monitoring frameworks for data pipeline quality and performance.
  • Implement best practices around systems integration, security, performance, and data management.
  • Collaborate with internal clients to drive solution discussions and prototype new approaches.
  • Define and manage SLAs for data products and processes in production.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of overall technology experience, including 6+ years in software development and data engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools.
  • 6+ years of experience in SQL optimization and performance tuning, with programming experience in Python and PySpark.
  • 4+ years of cloud data engineering experience in Azure, with familiarity in Azure cloud services.
  • Experience with integration of multi-cloud services and on-premises technologies.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience with data profiling and data quality tools like Apache Griffin and Great Expectations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Statistical/ML techniques.
  • Experience in building solutions in the retail or supply chain space.
  • Understanding of metadata management and data glossaries.
