The Data Engineering Program Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing data engineering and analytics projects, particularly within the e-commerce and retail sectors. This position requires a proven track record in program management, with a focus on implementing data engineering solutions and analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in project or program implementation related to data engineering or analytics, with a minimum of 1-2 years in this domain. The role demands proficiency in various technical tools and languages, including SQL, Python, Glue, Airflow, Fivetran, RedShift, dbt, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot, which are essential for the successful execution of data projects. In addition to technical skills, the Data Engineering Program Manager must possess strong leadership and team-building capabilities. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are crucial, as the role involves collaborating with various teams and ensuring alignment on project goals. A project management certification such as PMP or Agile is preferred, as it demonstrates a commitment to best practices in project management. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is essential, as the nature of data projects often requires quick adaptations and innovative solutions. Familiarity with Cloud Big Data Solutions, including EMR, AWS Redshift, Kinesis, AWS Data Streams, and Big Query, is necessary for this role. Additionally, knowledge of the Apache Suite for Big Data Architecture, including tools like Spark, Akka, Cassandra, and Kafka, as well as experience with DBT-based data modeling and transformation, will be beneficial. The candidate will also be expected to answer screening questions related to their experience with data pipelines, big data processing tools, data storage and orchestration tools, and cloud data warehouses, particularly those utilizing AWS services. Experience with data visualization tools and web analytics tools like Google Analytics will be considered a bonus, especially for candidates with a background in retail.
