About the position

The Data Entry Billing Clerk position at CURA, Inc. is a full-time role based in Newark, NJ, primarily focused on managing client billing and data entry tasks related to Medicaid services. The successful candidate will be responsible for checking the NJMMIS (Emevs) system to verify the active Medicaid status of clients, conducting daily interviews with new clients via phone to ensure the accuracy of information entered by the Intake department, and facilitating the official admission process to CURA using the NJSAMS web-based system. This role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with both clients and internal departments. In addition to client verification and admission processes, the Data Entry Billing Clerk will handle Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility (PE) applications for new eligible clients, request and secure initial or ongoing authorizations based on funding sources, and manage the daily cleanup of the NYSAMS message queue. Once authorizations are approved, the clerk will enter this information into an Excel list and the Zoobook system. The role also involves submitting tickets through the NJSAMS system for any issues related to securing prior authorizations and following up on their status. The clerk will prepare a new due ERL list at the beginning of each week for distribution to various programs, sort and distribute client correspondence related to health insurance, and maintain ongoing communication with the Newark or Secaucus programs regarding changes in client funding sources and discharge dates. Daily billing for FFS Newark and Secaucus clients using NJ-DAS is also a key responsibility, along with reviewing the Suboxone list from the Medical Department to schedule Medicaid appointments in Zoobook. The clerk will generate and submit Medicaid billing in Zoobook every three days and may also process the CCF on the NJMISS website as instructed. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure all billing and data entry tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Check the NJMMIS (Emevs) system for active Medicaid status of clients.
  • Conduct daily interviews with new clients by phone to verify information for quality control.
  • Inform the Intake department of any missing or incorrect information that needs correction.
  • Process Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility (PE) applications for new eligible clients.
  • Request and secure initial or ongoing authorizations according to the funding source.
  • Clean up the NYSAMS message queue daily to manage authorization statuses.
  • Enter approved authorizations into an Excel list and in Zoobook.
  • Submit tickets through the NJSAMS system for issues securing prior authorizations and follow up on their status.
  • Prepare a new due ERL list for distribution to programs at the beginning of each week.
  • Sort, distribute, and make copies of client correspondence related to health insurance.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Newark or Secaucus programs regarding changes in client funding sources and discharge dates.
  • Update funding sources in Zoobook as necessary.
  • Bill FFS Newark and Secaucus clients using NJ-DAS on a daily basis.
  • Review the Suboxone list from the Medical Department to schedule Medicaid appointments in Zoobook.
  • Generate and submit Medicaid billing in Zoobook every three days.
  • Process the CCF on the NJMISS website if instructed.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Data Entry, billing, or accounting role.
  • Experience with billing software such as Zoobook and Quickbooks.
  • Knowledge of NJ-DAS/NJMISS is a plus.
  • Bilingual speaking preferred.
