About the position

The Data Entry Clerk (Clerk III) at the Texas Workforce Commission is responsible for performing complex clerical work, including data entry, document verification, and maintaining files. This role supports a hybrid work environment, allowing for both telecommuting and in-office work. The ideal candidate will possess strong data entry skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills, ensuring productivity and quality in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly complex clerical work involving data entry and document verification.
  • Coordinate clerical activities such as compiling and tabulating data.
  • Check documents for accuracy and maintain files.
  • Work in a high-speed data environment, accurately keying data from images.
  • Classify forms and perform quality assurance on documents.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of data entry procedures and software functionality.
  • Manually process returned overpayment mail with high accuracy.
  • Prepare documents for scanning and use mainframe for data verification.
  • Adhere to established work schedules and maintain regular attendance.
  • Train others as needed and ensure compliance with relevant laws and procedures.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time experience in a high-speed data entry environment or relevant clerical role.
  • Knowledge of data entry practices and principles.
  • Experience in general administrative support functions.
  • Skill in using standard office equipment and software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Word, Outlook, Excel, Captiva software, and TWC mainframe applications.
