About the position

Hinckley Yachts has been a leader in building and servicing America's finest yachts since 1928. With a network of ten Yacht Care Centers from Maine to Florida, we provide comprehensive services including refits, transportation, and storage, ensuring our customers enjoy a pinnacle ownership experience. We are currently seeking a Data Entry Clerk for our Portsmouth, RI location. This role is essential in maintaining the efficiency of our inventory control system and supporting the purchasing manager in various tasks related to inventory management. The Data Entry Clerk will be responsible for preparing, compiling, and sorting documents, as well as utilizing a computer-based inventory control system. The position involves noting out-of-stock items and providing lists to the purchasing team, assembling containers for shipping, and stocking shelves in predetermined inventory locations. The clerk will also complete charge slips for requisitioned materials and parts, perform annual physical inventory counts, and investigate discrepancies. Additionally, the role may require driving to outlying work areas to check order statuses or deliver/pick-up materials. The ideal candidate will follow defined instructions and procedures, adhere to safety rules, and maintain a clean work area. They will conduct product ordering for both inventoried and non-inventoried items as needed, ensuring inventory accuracy in the stockroom. The Data Entry Clerk will coordinate cycle and physical counts of stockroom areas and ensure timely data entry and documentation of all materials leaving the stockroom. Proactive verification of data through source documents is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compile, and sort documents for inventory management.
  • Utilize a computer-based inventory control system under the supervision of the purchasing manager.
  • Note out-of-stock items and provide lists to the purchasing team.
  • Assemble wooden/cardboard containers or preassembled cartons for shipping.
  • Stock and restock shelves in predetermined inventory locations.
  • Complete charge slips in response to requisitions for materials and parts, recording in the computer inventory system.
  • Perform annual physical inventory and regular cycle counts, investigating and reporting discrepancies.
  • Drive to outlying work areas to check order statuses or deliver/pick-up materials as needed.
  • Follow defined instructions and procedures in task performance.
  • Adhere to prescribed safety rules and maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Conduct product ordering for both inventoried and non-inventoried consumables as needed.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy of the stockroom and coordinate appropriate cycle and physical counts.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
  • Technical skills including Microsoft Office experience for reporting and tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills and accurate keying abilities.
  • Proficient computer and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain a constructive work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on accuracy.
