In addition to data entry tasks, the Data Entry Clerk will read source documents such as canceled checks, sales reports, or bills, and enter data into specific fields or onto tapes or disks for subsequent entry. The role also involves compiling, sorting, and verifying the accuracy of data before it is entered, as well as locating and correcting data entry errors or reporting them to supervisors. The Data Entry Clerk will maintain logs of activities and completed work, and perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the data management process.

Responsibilities

  • Operate data entry devices, such as keyboards or computers, to verify and input data.
  • Read source documents such as canceled checks, sales reports, or bills, and enter data into specific fields or onto tapes or disks for subsequent entry.
  • Compile, sort, and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered.
  • Locate and correct data entry errors, or report them to supervisors.
  • Compare data with source documents, or re-enter data in verification format to detect errors.
  • Maintain logs of activities and completed work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years related experience required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time effectively.
  • Ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.
  • Experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
