About the position

The Data Entry Support position is part of the Office of Outdoor Recreation under the Bureau of Conservation, reporting to the GIS Manager. The role focuses on managing the Bureau's geographic information system (GIS), producing maps and deliverables, and contributing to various GIS projects. The position requires collaboration with Tennessee State Parks staff and other divisions, primarily working remotely with occasional meetings and fieldwork across the state.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Bureau of Parks Conservation's geographic information system (GIS).
• Produce maps and other deliverables as requested.
• Contribute to GIS projects, including building custom GIS tools and solutions.
• Apply spatial analysis techniques in GIS projects.
• Collaborate with operational staff, including Park Rangers, and other divisions within the Bureau.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Earth Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 2 years of relevant work experience in GIS or a related field.
• Proficiency with Esri software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Proficiency in creating, editing, managing, and publishing GIS feature data.
• Proficiency in cartographic design.
• Working knowledge of geospatial analysis methods and ESRI GIS applications development.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Avenza MAPublisher.
• Working knowledge of Arcade and/or JavaScript programming for GIS applications and API integration.
