About the position

Advantage Tech is seeking a Data Governance & Access Management Engineer for our client in Kansas City. This role is pivotal in developing, operating, and maintaining Access Management systems globally across various Data platforms. The engineer will be responsible for recommending, implementing, and maintaining appropriate tools and technologies related to Identity and Access Management (IAM) for Data platforms. A key aspect of this position is to drive the data security strategy across data platforms through a Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) framework, ensuring that data access governance is transparent, auditable, and accountable. The engineer will also focus on standardizing definitions and fostering collaboration across teams. In this role, the engineer will define, drive, and implement a comprehensive data access and security framework across Data products. They will support Identity Governance and Identity Lifecycle management products, ensuring oversight and delivery of strategic initiatives for Access Management. This includes protecting against and responding to cyber threats from both external and internal actors. The engineer will provide strategic guidance and leadership for the Technology organization and the business overall, ensuring the day-to-day successful operations of end-user related software and hardware. The engineer will analyze system performance to review operating costs, efficiency levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics. They will establish policies and procedures to support new technology initiatives and identify new technology solutions while staying updated on current technologies and trends. This position requires a dynamic and proven data engineer with extensive experience in leading web and data application delivery teams, access management, cybersecurity, and business and technology planning, while providing strategic vision to the team and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, operate, and maintain Access Management systems globally across Data platforms.
  • Recommend, implement, and maintain tools/tech related to Identity and Access Management for Data platforms.
  • Drive data security strategy across data platforms via Role-Based Access Control framework.
  • Drive data access governance towards transparency, auditability, data quality, accountability, stewardship, standardization of definitions, and collaboration.
  • Define, drive, and implement data access and security framework across Data products.
  • Support Identity Governance and Identity Lifecycle management products.
  • Oversee and deliver strategic initiatives for Access Management to protect against cyber threats.
  • Provide strategic guidance, oversight, and leadership for the Technology organization and business overall.
  • Ensure successful day-to-day operations of end-user related software and hardware.
  • Analyze systems performance to review operating costs, efficiency levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics.
  • Establish policies and procedures to support new technology initiatives across the organization.
  • Identify and recommend new technology solutions and keep up to date on current technologies and trends.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of increasingly responsible experience in Data Platforms, Data Engineering, Software Engineering in high-impact environments.
  • Hands-on experience within a Data products build and operations cloud environment.
  • Experience leading data teams and projects.
  • Bachelor's degree, relevant certifications, and continuing education preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Databases, Networking, Systems, Windows, Windows Clustering, Active Directory, Group Policy, VMWare ESXi, and Cloud (Azure).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to simplify complex subjects.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services and Azure Database development with Infra as Code.
  • Expertise in Data warehousing, data modeling, relational and dimension modeling, data quality, data catalog, and Data Governance.
  • Experience with data security and data access controls across digital transformation/cloud migration programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Finance/Insurance would be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of Software development agile methodologies and experience in Scrum teams.
  • Strong exposure to Databases and data structures of cloud-based technologies.
  • Azure/Google Cloud Platform/AWS Solution Architect certification or Data Engineer certification is a plus.
