About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application. This role focuses on managing and governing data across various sources, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing decision-making through data insights. The analyst will be responsible for data cataloging, classification, lineage tracking, and compliance, while also supporting public health data management initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for Microsoft Purview implementation and oversight.
  • Implement and oversee electronic searches for documents through eDiscovery platforms.
  • Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with departments to retrieve requested data and compile documents for disclosure.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and SOPs related to data management.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions on data governance policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing and designing data management applications and systems.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Purview for data governance frameworks and eDiscovery searches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).
