About the position

The Data Governance Analyst plays a critical role in developing and supporting an enterprise-wide data and analytics governance program at Health First. This position collaborates closely with business stakeholders, data stewards, and IT teams to establish standards, policies, and processes that ensure the reliability, usability, security, and compliance of the organization's data and analytics assets. The analyst will also assist in fostering a culture of data literacy to support business outcomes and will be responsible for administering data governance policies, assessing data quality, and maintaining documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Guide development of and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Administer data governance business processes and supporting technological platforms.
  • Promote data literacy through collaboration with, and training of, key governance roles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (business, IT, legal, compliance) to define data quality requirements.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain data dictionaries and data lineage documentation.
  • Support data stewards in monitoring data governance compliance and resolving issues.
  • Assist Data & Analytics leaders' efforts to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g. HIPAA, FIPA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, information management, analytics, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in a role entirely supporting a data governance program.
  • Three years of experience working with healthcare data.
  • Proficiency in data cataloging tools (e.g. Purview, Collibra, Informatica).
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data quality frameworks and best practices.
  • Understanding of data privacy and protection regulations such as HIPAA, FIPA, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and professional presence.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in information systems, information management, analytics, or a related field.
  • Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or equivalent certification.
  • Three years of experience in a data governance role plus two additional years of experience in any data management or business intelligence role.
  • Experience implementing a data governance toolset.
  • Experience supporting an emergent data governance program.
