About the position

The Data Governance Analyst plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing data to ensure its quality and usability for decision-making processes within the organization. This position involves collecting, processing, and analyzing large datasets to extract meaningful insights that can drive business strategies. The analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining databases and data systems, ensuring that data is organized in a readable format. They will perform thorough analyses to assess the quality and meaning of data, filtering it by reviewing reports and performance indicators to identify and correct any issues. In addition to data management, the analyst will utilize statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex datasets, which can aid in diagnosis and prediction. They will assign numerical values to essential business functions, allowing for the assessment and comparison of business performance over time. The role also requires analyzing local, national, and global trends that impact the organization and the industry, preparing comprehensive reports for management that highlight trends, patterns, and predictions based on relevant data. Collaboration is key in this role, as the analyst will work closely with programmers, engineers, and management to identify opportunities for process improvement, propose system modifications, and devise effective data governance strategies. They will prepare final analysis reports for stakeholders, ensuring that the data-analysis steps are clear and enabling informed decision-making based on various facts and trends. The analyst will also be responsible for scrutinizing data to recognize and identify patterns, using data modeling techniques to summarize the overall features of data analysis, and employing automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources. Furthermore, they will be tasked with removing corrupted data and fixing coding errors to maintain data integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and various business intelligence and analytical tools.
  • Understanding of data gathering, inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling/diagramming techniques.
  • Knowledge of data analysis, data modeling, and data visualization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Data governance and quality understanding, including principles and management.
  • Experience with data cleaning and preparation, including removing errors and identifying outliers.
  • Familiarity with statistical tests and tools, including mean, median, variance, standard deviation, correlation, regression, and hypothesis testing.
  • Ability to create dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and libraries such as Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, and Seaborn.
