About the position

JPC Partners is seeking a Data Governance Analyst who will play a crucial role in building Data Governance competency and implementing Enterprise Data Governance initiatives. This position requires a proactive individual who will interact with both business and IT users to gather and document requirements effectively. The Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for creating and socializing data principles, policies, and standards that align with the organization's goals. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate across multiple departments, analyze data for quality assurance, and assist in triaging data-related issues. In this role, the Data Governance Analyst will assist the data governance lead and data stewards in the creation, coordination, support, and promotion of data principles, policies, and standards. The analyst will work within a team to provide requirements and evaluate Data Governance software, ensuring that the tools used are effective and meet the organization's needs. Profiling data using both standard and complex rules will be essential to identify potential data issues and the necessity for data standards. The analyst will also ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of data definitions, utilizing data quality software to interrogate data sets and design data quality monitors tailored to project requirements. Additionally, the Data Governance Analyst will perform detailed analyses to identify trends and patterns in data, document business rules for data, and conduct root cause analyses on data anomalies. Collaborating with data stewards to resolve these issues will be a key responsibility. The analyst will also support the Master Data Management platform, ensuring that data governance practices are upheld throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist data governance lead and data stewards in creation, coordination, support and promotion of data principles, policies and standards
  • Work within a team to help provide requirements and evaluate Data Governance software
  • Profile data using standard and complex rules to identify potential data issues and the need for data standards
  • Ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of data definitions
  • Use data quality software to interrogate data sets
  • Design data quality monitors to meet project data needs
  • Perform detailed analysis in order to identify trends and patterns in data
  • Analyze findings and present summarized results
  • Document business rules for data
  • Perform root cause analysis on data anomalies and work with data stewards to resolve issues
  • Support the Master Data Management platform

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience on projects where data management, data integration, data governance and/or data quality was a primary or significant focus of the effort
  • Excellent requirements gathering skills and experience
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work independently, with minimum supervision
  • Experience analyzing and reporting on complex databases
  • Good understanding with relational database modeling concepts
  • Intermediate proficiency with SQL
  • Ability to translate data and analytical needs from business requirements
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on data anomalies and work with data stewards to resolve issues
  • B.S. degree in computer science, management information systems, or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Python, Tableau or similar tools
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Experience in business analysis and/or data governance analysis
  • Experience with data governance tools such as Purview, Collibra, or Alation
  • Experience in a data governance organization
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology
