About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application. This role focuses on managing and governing data across various sources, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing organizational efficiency through effective data management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application.
  • Implement and oversee electronic searches for documents through the eDiscovery Premium and Standard platforms.
  • Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to retrieve requested data and compile necessary documents for disclosure.
  • Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and guidelines related to data management and governance.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions to educate agency staff on data governance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate in developing and designing data management applications and systems to improve data capabilities for public health purposes.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Experience in the utilization of Microsoft Purview to implement and manage data governance frameworks.
  • Experience conducting eDiscovery Premium searches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).
