About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application, a data governance tool that helps manage and govern data across various sources. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing data requests, and developing policies related to data governance, while also providing analytical insights to enhance decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application.
  • Implement and oversee electronic searches for documents through the eDiscovery Premium and Standard platforms.
  • Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to retrieve requested data and compile necessary documents for disclosure.
  • Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and guidelines related to data management and governance.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions to educate agency staff on data governance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate in developing and designing data management applications and systems to improve data capabilities for public health purposes.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Experience in the utilization of Microsoft Purview to implement and manage data governance frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).
  • 5-7 years of experience with Windows operating systems.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft 365 applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience conducting eDiscovery Premium searches.
