About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will play a crucial role in establishing and managing data governance policies and processes at the client agency site. This position focuses on ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with defined standards, while also collaborating with IT teams to facilitate data integration and consistency. The analyst will be responsible for monitoring data quality, developing data policies, and supporting the operationalization of data governance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to provide insights for decision-making.
  • Create and operationalize data policies, including developing KPIs to support these policies.
  • Support the implementation of data governance processes.
  • Monitor and ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Develop and implement data quality standards and processes.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure data integration and consistency.
  • Maintain a repository of Data Governance policies, procedures, and standards with appropriate version control.
  • Work with the Data Governance Manager during the onboarding of new applications under governance and provide support during operationalization.
  • Provide support to Data Governance Stewards during data profiling activities.
  • Assist in data reconciliation and validation checks across various systems.
  • Develop initial proof of concepts for data that needs to be merged from multiple systems and define the business benefits of moving towards a consolidated source.
  • Assist in documenting data lineage and data flows.
  • Capture business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata lineage information.
  • Work with IT teams to enforce Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • At least 10+ years of experience in data analysis and governance.
  • Strong understanding of data quality standards and processes.
  • Experience in creating and operationalizing data policies.
  • Ability to monitor and ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Proficient in collaborating with IT teams for data integration.
  • Experience in maintaining documentation for data governance policies and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data profiling and validation tools.
  • Familiarity with data lineage and metadata management.
  • Knowledge of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) processes.
