About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will oversee the implementation and management of the Microsoft Purview application within the agency, ensuring compliance with data governance standards. This role involves managing various data types across Microsoft 365 applications and other platforms, focusing on public health data. The analyst will also be responsible for data cataloging, classification, lineage tracking, and compliance with regulatory standards, while supporting the agency's data modernization projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application.
• Implement and oversee electronic searches for documents through the eDiscovery Premium and Standard platforms.
• Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
• Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
• Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
• Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
• Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to retrieve requested data and compile necessary documents for disclosure.
• Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
• Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and guidelines related to data management and governance.
• Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
• Develop training materials and conduct sessions to educate agency staff on data governance policies and procedures.
• Collaborate in developing and designing data management applications and systems to improve data capabilities for public health purposes.
• Assist with cataloging and organization of agency data resources to create a public-facing data catalog.
• Support the selection and implementation of updated processes for managing external requests for data and public records.
• Maintain effective communication with agency staff supporting projects and ensure focus on project goals.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
• Experience in utilizing Microsoft Purview to implement and manage data governance frameworks.
• Experience conducting eDiscovery Premium searches.
