About the position

The Data Governance Analyst at Beacon Systems, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of the Microsoft Purview application, ensuring compliance with data governance frameworks and regulatory standards. This hybrid position involves working with various data types across Microsoft 365 applications and other data sources, focusing on public health data management and compliance. The role includes responsibilities such as data cataloging, classification, lineage tracking, and providing insights to enhance decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application.
  • Implement and oversee electronic searches for documents through the eDiscovery Premium and Standard platforms.
  • Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to retrieve requested data and compile necessary documents for disclosure.
  • Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and guidelines related to data management and governance.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions to educate agency staff on data governance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate in developing and designing data management applications and systems to improve data capabilities for public health purposes.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Experience in the utilization of Microsoft Purview to implement and manage data governance frameworks.
  • Conduct eDiscovery Premium searches.
  • 5 years of experience in data governance.
  • 5 years of experience with HIPAA regulations.
  • 3 years of experience with Microsoft Purview.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • WebLogic experience helpful.
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).

Benefits

  • Contract position with competitive hourly pay ranging from $55 to $65 per hour.
