About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency's Microsoft Purview application, a data governance tool that helps organizations manage and govern their data across various sources. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing data classification, and providing analytical insights to enhance decision-making within the agency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary compliance contact for Microsoft Purview implementation and oversight.
• Implement and oversee electronic searches for documents through eDiscovery platforms.
• Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
• Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
• Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
• Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
• Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Coordinate with departments to retrieve requested data and compile documents for disclosure.
• Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
• Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and SOPs related to data management.
• Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
• Develop training materials and conduct sessions on data governance policies and procedures.
• Collaborate in developing and designing data management applications and systems for public health purposes.
• Assist with cataloging and organization of agency data resources to create a public-facing data catalog.
• Support the selection and implementation of processes for managing external requests for data and public records.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
• Experience in utilizing Microsoft Purview to implement and manage data governance frameworks.
• Experience conducting eDiscovery Premium searches.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).
