About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for implementing and overseeing data governance processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing the organization's data management capabilities. This role involves collaboration with various departments to manage data requests, develop policies, and provide analytical insights to support decision-making in public health initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and oversight of electronic searches for documents through eDiscovery platforms.
  • Corresponding with data/records requestors to develop and modify search terms as needed.
  • Assisting in the interpretation of search results and producing results for final review.
  • Organizing and indexing data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Applying labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Tracking the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Providing analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensuring data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinating with relevant departments to retrieve requested data and compile necessary documents for disclosure.
  • Communicating with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and guidelines related to data management.
  • Monitoring and interpreting federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Developing training materials and conducting sessions to educate agency staff on data governance policies.
  • Collaborating in developing and designing data management applications and systems to improve data capabilities for public health purposes.
  • Assisting with cataloging and organization of agency data resources to create a public-facing data catalog.
  • Supporting the selection and implementation of processes for managing external requests for data and public records.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe.
  • Experience in the utilization of Microsoft Purview.
  • Ability to implement and manage data governance frameworks that enhance organizational efficiency and comply with regulatory standards.
  • Experience conducting eDiscovery Premium searches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • WebLogic experience helpful.
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards governing the management of sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, NIST Standards).
