About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of Microsoft Purview, a data governance tool that helps organizations manage and govern their data across various sources. This role involves ensuring compliance with data regulations, managing data assets, and supporting public health data initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for the implementation and oversight of Microsoft Purview.
  • Implement and oversee electronic searches for documents through the eDiscovery Premium and Standard platforms.
  • Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
  • Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
  • Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to retrieve requested data and compile necessary documents for disclosure.
  • Communicate with requesters to clarify requests and provide updates on processing status.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and guidelines related to data management.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws and regulations.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions to educate agency staff on data governance policies.
  • Collaborate in developing and designing data management applications and systems to improve data capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview or similar data governance tools.
  • Knowledge of data compliance regulations, including HIPAA and federal/state data protection laws.
  • Strong analytical skills to derive insights from data.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in policy development and compliance monitoring.
  • Ability to organize and manage large amounts of data effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with public health data management.
  • Experience with eDiscovery processes and tools.
  • Knowledge of data cataloging and classification techniques.
