About the position

The Data Governance & Controls Associate Vice President (AVP) will support the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO) in defining, maintaining, and executing the Data Management Integrated Control Framework (DMICF) across the enterprise. This role is crucial for enhancing data quality and mitigating data risks by ensuring reliable, quality, timely, and fit-for-purpose data across various lines of business and functions within MUFG.

Responsibilities

  • Define, maintain and ensure implementation of the Data Management Integrated Control Framework (DMICF) for Tier 1 Risk & Regulatory Reports.
  • Ensure implementation of the DMICF Consumption Layer Controls for Tier 1 Risk & Regulatory Reports.
  • Identify and certify Golden Source, Calculator, and Model for Tier 1 Risk & Regulatory Reports.
  • Build new Key Data Element (KDE) Data Integrity Testing and implement Comprehensiveness Controls.
  • Execute and maintain KDE Integrity Testing in production.
  • Perform sample-based data tracing on Priority Level 1 KDEs for data accuracy confirmation.
  • Ensure implementation of the DMICF Production Layer Controls for Tier 1 Risk & Regulatory Reports.
  • Execute and maintain KDE Data Accuracy Validation with Line of Business Data Custodians.
  • Provide governance, oversight, and monitoring of Data Quality Incidents.
  • Identify and remediate material Data Quality Problems within estimated turn-around times.
  • Track and report Data Quality Lifecycle Metrics for Risk & Regulatory Reports.
  • Maintain and enhance Data Quality tools and implement improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, information management, business administration, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, data management, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance principles, frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating data governance activities and forums.
  • Experience in working with data policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
  • Experience in working with data quality metrics, dashboards, and reports.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Risk and regulatory reporting experience.
  • Financial Crimes experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBi, and Collibra.
