About the position

The Data Governance Coordinator (Program Coordinator II) is responsible for developing and implementing data governance strategies, frameworks, policies, and procedures within the South Carolina Department of Public Health. This role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders to enhance data accessibility, integrity, and security, while also providing training to improve data literacy among agency staff. The position requires continuous learning to stay updated on industry standards and best practices in data management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of data governance strategies, frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote data governance best practices.
• Develop and conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance data literacy and governance awareness among agency staff.
• Continuously update knowledge and skills in data management to ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
• Complete other duties as assigned, including responding to emergency events.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
• Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification or other relevant data governance certification.
• Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations.
• Working knowledge of data governance tools.
• Project management experience.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver results within deadlines.
