About the position

As a Data Governance Data Analyst at Innova Solutions, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business processes and technology practices within the realm of data governance. This position is designed for individuals who possess a blend of business acumen and technical experience, allowing you to effectively liaise between local data officers, client business users, technical resources, and other key stakeholders in the data governance landscape. Your primary focus will be on supporting the development of a robust data governance practice, which includes creating a business term glossary, identifying data elements, mapping data, and establishing data lineage. You will also be responsible for profiling and analyzing data to maintain data quality rules and assist in managing and remediating data quality issues. In this role, you will lead initiatives that require a deep understanding of data tables and documentation, while also collaborating with a team that includes business-focused policy data governance individuals and technical SQL/reporting professionals. You will be expected to provide data mapping, data lineage, and data flows to support governance activities, maintain data architecture standards, and support data quality processes. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for various stakeholders will be essential. Additionally, familiarity with tools such as Collibra, Informatica, and business intelligence platforms like Power BI and Tableau will be advantageous as you work on data management and analytics tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance and analysis, with proficiency in SQL and business intelligence tools. You will be expected to work independently while managing multiple initiatives and engaging with a diverse group of management and subject matter experts. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, are critical for success in this position. A bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent work experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide data mapping, data lineage, and data flows to support data governance activities.
  • Maintain physical and logical data, adhering to data architecture standards and procedures.
  • Support data quality processes, including data profiling and developing data quality rules.
  • Identify data lineage and create data quality rules for onboarding key data elements.
  • Assist with client data initiatives, including data management and records management tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in data governance and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL and business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Master Data Management.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of data management tools like Collibra and Informatica.
