About the position

The Data Governance Engineer at Bose is responsible for managing organization-wide data governance activities, focusing on the stewardship of sensitive data and information assets. This role involves establishing and adhering to an enterprise data governance framework, ensuring compliance and protection of data, and collaborating with various teams to enhance data consistency across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance platform focusing on data inventory, ownership, and protection of sensitive data.
  • Assist in defining roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure accountability for stewardship of information assets.
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure data protection requirements are clearly defined and understood.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners, and retention policies.
  • Resolve issues escalated from Business and Functional areas regarding data governance.
  • Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline expenses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a major services organization with large-scale data oversight experience.
  • Knowledge of industry-leading data quality and data protection management practices.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices and issues related to management of enterprise information assets.
  • Knowledge of government regulatory requirements and emerging trends in data protection.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Demonstrated consulting skills with change management concepts and strategies.
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions.
  • Bachelor's or Master's in computer science, Data Analytics/Informatics, or related fields.
