About the position

The Data Governance Engineer at the Illinois Tollway plays a vital role in supporting the implementation and maintenance of the enterprise-wide data governance framework. This position focuses on developing and managing the technical aspects of data governance initiatives, ensuring data quality, protection, and compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement technical solutions to support the enterprise data governance framework
• Create and maintain data quality rules, data lineage, and metadata management systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data governance tools and processes into existing systems
• Develop and implement data protection mechanisms for sensitive information
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of enterprise information maps and data inventories
• Implement and manage data quality monitoring and reporting tools
• Support the development of data governance metrics and performance indicators
• Support Data Stewards and Data Custodians in the management of their data assets
• Participate in the evaluation and implementation of data governance technologies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Three to four years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on data governance
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, SQL, and Java
• Experience with data quality, metadata management, and data lineage tools
• Knowledge of data protection regulations and best practices
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
