About the position

The Data Governance Implementation Lead will spearhead the establishment of a comprehensive Data Governance framework within the Risk and Finance Divisional Data Office at BNY Mellon. This role is pivotal in enhancing the quality and integrity of critical data assets, ensuring compliance with policies, and driving business value through effective data management practices. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to implement data governance processes and support data management sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the Data Governance Operating Model to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support data management sustainability and excellence.
• Work closely with business units, data owners, and custodians to identify critical data assets and define data quality requirements.
• Collaborate with data management teams to ensure alignment with enterprise data management policies and standards.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the Data Governance Operating Model, providing guidance to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of total work experience, with at least 3-5 years in a management role preferred.
• Hands-on experience in Data and Metadata Management from concept to implementation.
• Strong stakeholder management and people skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology and experience in scrums such as backlog refinement and sprint planning.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles and regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR).
• Experience with data governance tooling and technologies, and data profiling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
